BUSY FALL WEEKEND FOR UofL WOMENS SPORTS -- SATURDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

NO TREAT FOR CUSE...VOLLEYBALL WINS 3-1 IN YUM!

Louisville Volleyball used another big hitting night from sophomore Janelle Jenkins to down Syracuse 25-12, 22-25, 25-16, 25-14 in the KFC YUM! CENTER Friday night.

The outside hitter led Louisville with 17 kills.

Louisville took control of this one early on...jumping on the Panthers and riding out to a 14-point lead in the first set thanks to some woeful SU hitting (.022) and errors (10). Maya McClendon led the Cards with four kills in the opener.

The Orange rallied from a five-point deficit in game two at 15-10 and tied the match at 19-19 and 22-22. Three straight Syracuse points gave them the win and tied the match up at 1-1 going into the break.

UofL responded well for set three...breaking a 10-8 deficit with a 9-1 run to go up 17-11 and used a 8-5 run from there to take a 2-1 game advantage. Jenkins produced seven kills in the game.

The fourth game was never in doubt...the Cards getting five straight serving points from Roxanne McVey to go from 10-5 to 15-5. The Cuse did rally to get within six at 17-9 but the Cards used a 8-5 run to take the final and the match.

WSOC BRINGS IN VA TECH FOR SENIOR NIGHT

In what promises to be a chilly night for ball kicking...the UofL women's soccer team plays their final home game of the year when the Hokies take the field against the Cards at 6 p.m. tonight in Lynn Stadium.

VT is 13-5 on the season and 4-5 in the ACC. #15 in the nation, they come to Louisville on the heels of a 2-0 loss to #3 rival Virginia last Sunday. Louisville (7-8-2, 3-4-2) dropped a tough one to Notre Dame Sunday in South Bend to the Irish 1-0.

Freshmen Isabella Habuda and Alison Price lead the Cards youth movement with three goals apiece. The Cards say goodbye to four seniors tonight in Chinyelu Asher, Erin "Yen" Yenney, Casey Whitfield and Kim Sharo.

Let's roll out tonight, brave the elements and say goodbye to this hard-working senior class!
